When Should You Hire a Professional Painter?

Painting a place of business, either inside or out, is not always as easy as you might assume; surfaces need to be prepared properly in order to hold a fresh coat of paint and for the colour to remain true, and there are certain tools you need for painting different surfaces and for applying various types of paint. Because painting isn't always as easy as you might think, note when it's good to hire a professional painter for any painting jobs you might have.

When painting anything other than standard drywall

Drywall or sheet rock is meant to hold a paint colour; the surface is slightly textured so that paint will adhere properly and not peel away. However, other surfaces may not hold paint so easily and they may need to be sanded, buffed or grinded, or you may need to switch to a type of paint with extra adhesion. Some surfaces may need a primer to give them a smoother surface if the material is too bumpy or porous. Additionally, you may need to use different rollers and brushes for various surfaces. Because most people don't know all these details for painting surfaces other than standard drywall, call a professional painter to get the job done right.

If the current paint is bubbling or peeling away

If the paint on a surface is currently bubbling or peeling away, putting a fresh coat of paint over it may not solve the problem; your new paint may also soon start to flake off. If there is mould behind the top layer of paint that is causing this bubbling and peeling, sanding this mould can be very dangerous. Professional painters like Armani Painting can prepare a flaking surface and stay safe as well.

If there are a lot of edges and obstructions

You may know to add painter's tape around edges and obstructions, but applying painter's tape takes as much skill as the painting itself! Applying the tape in a straight line can be very difficult, and it's easy to wind up with an uneven edge around windowsills, light fixtures and everything else in a room. If you wait too long to remove the painter's tape and your new paint dries, you could peel away that layer you just applied! However, if the paint is not dry enough, it could then drip into the areas you're trying to protect. Have a professional painter address these areas so the taping is done properly and you wind up with a clean edge.
